SUN PROTECTION

Health

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can damage human skin. It causes redness and sunburn, photo-aging, and can lead to skin tumours. Cosmetic products containing UV filters are used to protect against UV radiation. UV filters are classified according to their mechanism of action into:

1) Chemical

2) Mineral

Chemical filters absorb UV radiation by changing the chemical structure. They replace the UV energy with non-hazardous thermal energy. However, a growing number of scientific papers are emerging showing the negative effects of chemical UV filters: they create free radicals that are harmful to the human body, are genotoxic, can have negative effects on the endocrine system, and can cause allergies.

Mineral filters have a different mechanism of action. They act as a shield, reflecting UV radiation. As mineral filters are inorganic compounds and act only on the surface of the skin, they do not cause adverse effects on the human body.

The Sensitive Skin Masking Cream developed and manufactured by ODA LT contains mineral filters. Thus, the product not only hides unwanted skin irregularities and soothes the skin, but also protects against the negative effects of UV radiation! A test carried out in an independent laboratory (J.S. Hamilton) has determined the SPF 15. SPF (Sun Protection Factor) describes the degree of protection against UV radiation. This means that you can stay in the sun 15 times longer after applying this cream than without it. The study was carried out on people of different ages, genders and phototypes according to EN ISO 24444:2010/PN-EN ISO 24444:2011.
